Sego had the privilege of working with the Lane County Builders Association (LCBA) on the Reynolds Family home. The insulation materials were provided by our main supplier, Johns Manville, and Sego donated the labor for the installation. Following is an article that appeared in “On the Level,” a monthly newsletter published by LCBA.
A message from the Reynolds Family – Thank you HBA!
May 2007
Upon hearing about this incredible home, one of our friends said it best – “Ohhh my, HOW will you EVER be able to say “Thank You” for something this wonderful and life-changing?” And life-changing it is. We have been privileged to live in this amazing gift of love for six weeks now and continually feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. It seems as if every day we look at each other and exclaim, “I can’t believe we REALLY live here!” If this home was solely as functional as it is, we would have loved it, but for it to also be so absolutely gorgeous… well, we just can’t stop feeling utterly astonished.
Even though it’s been rather difficult over these last several weeks, with serious health battles, first with Jason and then with Grandpa Jack, this home has proven to be a safe haven. Life continues to be challenging, but living here makes a world of difference. We have quickly proven how well the design and construction works. And some of the special “extras” that you put in this great home really do make life a little easier and bring joy, all at the same time.
In this home we can feel peace, comfort, and warmth. We feel at home. When our feet feel the warm wood floor, when we touch the cool granite counters when we see the beautiful grass and landscaping, and the beautiful architecture, we are continually reminded that we are actually LIVING IN A LABOR OF LOVE. It all started with a friend, Rita, and Gail’s Mom, Babe, who have persistently prayed for 20 years that we could get a healthy home that would work better for us in caring for our disabled son, Jason. But God could not have done it without ALL OF YOU. It is amazing to think that a dear friend and “dreamer,” Katherine Conway; a great visionary named Ed McMahon; a talented facilitator named Peggy Williams; and the gifted architect, Dan Hill, could assemble such an incredible force of GIANT-HEARTED people to accomplish this MIRACLE OF LOVE.
We will be forever grateful to God, the HBA, friends, family and countless others. We THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.
With much love,
Alan, Gail, Joel, Jason and Grandpa Jack
